Assistant Priest
John Towler is a Norfolk man and spent his curacy at St. Margaret’s Church, Lowestoft. Following a lifetime’s interest in education he spent 7 years as Warden of Horstead (near Norwich) Conference Centre, a Diocesan Centre especially though not exclusively for young people, as well as Youth Chaplain and Rector of All Saints Church, Horstead. The first part of his ministry concluded as Precentor of Worcester Cathedral.
John took time out of full-time ministry and trained as a psychotherapist working in the public sector and in private practice; and as a facilitator working in the City of London, Roehampton and Southampton Universities; and teaching research at the Guildford College of Further and Higher Education. He gained a PhD in 2005 at the University of Surrey. He re-joined active ministry with the Avon Valley Churches in 2006.
He is married to Christine, has three children and two stepchildren, and six grandchildren. He loves reading, red wine, the cinema, and in later life is learning to play the mandolin (very falteringly!)
